We all know how much of a nightmare it can be when your boiler isn’t working the way it should be. More often than not we don’t have any idea what is wrong with it, or how to fix it. Luckily, most boiler problems can be fixed with a quick visit by a registered plumber or heating engineer, but sometimes that is not the case.
For boiler installations around the North East, CK Plumbing & Heating should be your first and only port of call, having worked in the industry for a vast number of years we have learnt a thing or two about boilers. Through this we have compiled a list of reasons why we believe having a new boiler installed is more often than not the best option.

1. Cost Effective
Over the years we have worked on installing a vast amount of new boilers and one thing we have learnt is, when your boiler is on the blink more often than not it is a better option to replace the boiler than keep paying for repairs. With older boilers, you will also find that sourcing parts will get increasingly difficult, especially if you have had the boiler system for around 15 years. The other aspect to think of is, if your boiler breaks during the winter, it might be more cost effective to replace the boiler rather than go through the stress and worry of fixing things that potentially could break again. Nobody wants to be left without heating or hot water during winter.
2. Energy Efficient
Having an older boiler that has been installed in your home over 10 years ago could be running at as low as 60% efficiency. Having a boiler that loses 40% energy is not ideal for running your heating and hot water systems in your home. Older boilers especially, have pilot lights which cost consumers around £50 a year to keep it alight, moving away from gas boilers is becoming a popular option. Combi boilers are becoming the more popular choice, offering hot water and heating on the same boiler system and working at maximum energy efficiency.
3. Avoid Emergency Situations
There is no worse situation than realising in the middle of winter that your boiler is broken and you are left without heating and hot water. Waiting until your boiler has reached low efficiency and breaks is not the best option in our professional opinion. Waiting a boiler out in the hopes it will last longer will only cause more issues in the near future for you and your family. The best thing to do in this situation is think of the long term investment over the short term fixes, a boiler breaking continuously means it needs replacing.
4. Safety Comes First
Whether you own your own family home or you are a landlord, boilers always need to be checked to ensure they are safe and working at full capacity, especially gas boilers. It is your legal responsibility, landlords especially, to make sure your boiler complies with all of the rules and regulations that are set out by the councils and government. Gas boilers that are poorly maintained can result in slow release carbon monoxide, NHS statistics suggest this kills around 50 people a year! Our job is to ensure you know how important it is to have a fully functioning boiler, sometimes having a new boiler installed is the only option when it comes to safety.
5. Eco Friendly
One thing that has shifted over the last 10 years is the need for eco-friendly systems, old style boilers use large amounts of fuel compared to the more modern boilers on the market today, making newer models much more efficient and environmentally friendly. Reducing carbon footprints is important in all aspects of daily life now, why should that not affect the next boiler you choose?
